Remote Charges
V1.6 by McFly



Required:

- Mattie's EventScripts 1.1.1.015w or higher
- The WuH's beta version of ES_Tools .416c
es_tools .416 Delta is now available HERE. est_nearcoord has been fixed so now you could enable blinding in this script without getting server crashes after map changed anymore :).





Description:

Quote:

- use a key to plant a remote charge anywhere you want. If weapons planting is allowed you can also press your key, shoot where you want to plant your charge and then release the key to validate.

- use another key to detonate your charges when you want

- you can plant up to the maximum predifined number of charges allowed and blow them together

- you can use the predefined number of charges each round (or life, depends if you are running a deathmatch server or not)

- if you kill a teammate with a charge you won't be allowed to use them anymore for a predefined number of rounds/lives

- you cannot use charges while you are dead (would be too easy ^^)

- you get credit (dollars + kills etc) when killing enemies with charges (thanks a lot to Venjax for this)

- a random explosion sound will be played once a charge is detonated and smoke will start and stay for a while

(sorry for the video aspect ratio but I was playing in 1280x960 and Vegas resized it like that lol. I'll be more careful next time ^^).




Installation:

- after installing the correct plugins create a new folder called 'remoteCharges' inside 'cstrike/addons/eventscripts' and extract 'es_remoteCharges.txt' in that folder

- then add 'es_load remoteCharges' to your 'cstrike/cfg/autoexec.cfg' file

- finally open the file called 'es_remoteCharges.txt', go down a little in the page and find where it says 'CONFIGURATION' (just after 'block load'). There you can customize the a lot of things !

- then simply restart your server and go try it ;)





How to use:

Quote:

- you'll need two keys: one to plant the charge and one to blow your charges. So open your console and bind a key to '+plant' and another one to '!detonate' (ex: bind v +plant;bind n !detonate). As you may have noticed above those commands can be chagned if you prefer.

- press your plant key and release it to plant in place. Hold it and shoot somewhere to plant with your weapon then release it.

- press your detonate key to blow your charges at any time exeptwhen you are dead. If you die before detonating you'll be able to use the ones you placed if server is running deathmatch mode. After a new round started they are lost evenif you still hear the sound.

- be careful with your teammates !!! Explosion magnitude is customizable but 300 is default and it does a lot of damage already !!! Any tk will result in a punishment: no charges during 3 rounds/lives (by default).

- by default 6 charges can be planted per player and per round/life and 3 can be set and detonated together

Note: It seems that some people cannot see that flashbang effect (MBchrono cannot :(). So I kept the old version (screen fade) to let you choose between both.

Mattie tried changing a few things and once we could play it without anymore crashes after map changed. This is the code that was used. But we're not sure what fixed it lol. He kinda only added log spam to check what was causing it and then it just stopped crashing.
So if you got crashes with previous version please download this one and let me know wether it fixed it or not.





V1.3a Changes:

Thanks, I forgot to say that the explosion sounds will play only with EventScripts 1.2 and higher so for the moment people won't hear them.

es_emitsound is a V1.1.1 feature. ;) They should hear them just fine if they upgrade to the current public beta.

Don't mention it. It's a real cool idea. I used to love remote charges in WolfET. You should get the little remote charges sound from that game and es_emitsound it from the guy who detonates his charges. That'd totally rock! :)

Just one question: is that server running on Linux or Windows ?
Must be something else though...
However I didn't have any problem myself it just works perfectly. But you're the second one to report server crash...

Updated according to the latest Valve update that broke some EST commands. Try it now maybe it will work better for you all.

i'm about to release a new version with new stuff and maybe a fix for map change because it seems to be crashing when playing with a few players.

EDIT:
Still crashes on map change atm...

Hey-

Having a little problem running this on a LAN server. Everything works fine, EXCEPT I can't see the mines when I plant them. I have the setting on 1 so that everybody should be able to see. Here's where I think the problem may be (but I'm no expert) - I don't have a remoteCharges/effects folder (should I?).
