EventScripts. Attached below, you can download the technical previews (kind of like a public alpha) of EventScripts for L4D and L4D2. Both Windows and Linux work for dedicated servers.

Versus Mode Simulator for L4D2Demo. As a special treat, included with L4D2Demo is examples/versus_l4d which includes an example taste of what Versus mode might be like in L4D2. You can play as the special infected against the survivors (though it only allows 4 players total at the moment). To run it, just use es_load examples/versus_l4d. Then say !infected to join the infected team. You'll spawn as a random infected sometime after the survivors leave their starting area.

If you have questions on any of this, post them in the new ES4Dead forum. Confirmed/reproducible bugs can be reported here.

  • your-name-here who did the lion's share of work for the L4D2Demo and the examples/versus_l4d script to give people a taste of Versus before L4D2 releases.
  • Metamod:Source team-- these releases leverage their L4D2Demo Source SDK tweaks and L4D, too. Very impressive work on both of those that helps the entire Source community.
  • GODJonez, Saul and the entire release team for their active testing of ES4Dead to iron out the biggest bugs.

Wow, awesome mattie.

Can we get a "shared" version in the future that sort-of is like sourcemod, so users dont have the dificulty to choose between ep1, ob, l4d and l4d2 ?

That's not in the near-term plans. But we may try it eventually. We'll try to keep the versions clearly marked.

I'm unable to run the plug-in in my Left 4 Dead 2 server. I install the L4D2 ES files via FTP in the addons folder, but when I restart the server the console just shows the message "Unable to load plugin "../left4dead2/addons/mattie_eventscripts""

There's something that I'm missing or doing wrong?

The server is provided by GameServers.com but I don't know the linux version installed :?

EDIT: The OS is Linux CentOS but sadly I can't find ot the exact version.

That's your problem. Eventscripts has issues with their linux servers becase they use a colon in their server path and it confuses python.

Here is the fix for your issue.
