EventScripts CS:S Public Beta: OrangeBox v2.1.1.338

This is a highly recommended update that resolves major issues in the previous ES CS:S release.

Changes in the original public beta:
  • CS:S Orange Box support. Tweaks and fixes to ES, sqlite3, playerlib, usermsg, popuplib, repeat, VDFs, etc.
  • Reduced size packages. Separate downloads for Windows and Linux to reduce download size.
  • Startup check for critical ES updates. Added support for the server to automatically check for critical EventScripts versions. You can disable this by adding eventscripts_checkforupdates 0 to your autoexec.cfg. (Thanks to Venjax for coding the ES update server.)

NEW Changes in v2.1.1.338:

Fixes:
  • Major fixes for event handling in Orangebox (due to Valve's ServerCommand() regression)
    • Resolves GunGame crashes with server_cvar events (e.g. sm_nextmap)
    • Resolves GunGame and WCS problems when using custom events
    • Note: You must leave sv_allow_wait_command at its default value of 1. See Known Issues.
  • Fixed es.give(), es.setpos(), es.setang(), es.prop_physics_create(), etc, to execute properly when more than one used per tick
  • Created new versions of es.menu and es.dbgmsg to avoid CCommand overrun messages and lost menus
  • Configlib misexecution resolved by es.mexec() rewritten in Python and fixed (Thanks to freddukes and SuperDave)
  • Resolved odd characters and other problems with usermsg in CS:S (Thanks to XE_ManUp)
  • Re-added the EntityProp and other "lost" classes from initial ES2.1
  • es_install extraction issues resolved (Thanks to [NATO]Hunter)
  • mani_basic_auth support has been added in this release.
  • Updated confused help text on many ES commands

Enhancements:
  • Includes eXtensible Admin v1.1.0.560 beta with many new features: http://forums.eventscripts.com/viewtopic.php?f=97&t=36671 (Thanks to Errant and the entire XA team!)
  • Added support for cfg/eventscripts_autoexec.cfg which is run early in EventScripts loading (Warning: Use it only for debugging variables-- cannot load scripts)
  • Started highly experimental support for the new ES Shell engine (ESC alpha); eventscripts_shellengine 1 in eventscripts_autoexec.cfg. (Thanks to Chun for coding this project!)
  • es.dbgmsg() now supports messages of any length
  • eventscripts_sourcesdk_level reports a numeric value for the SourceSDK ES is compiled with (1 for episode1, 2 for OB, 3 for l4d)
  • Improved server performance when no Python ticklisteners are loaded
  • Reduced EventScripts startup spam

Please report any issues on this thread. Problems reported with small bits of example repro code will get priority for fixes.

Hello all. I want to say THANKS for the work you put into this, allowing us Gungame addicts to run servers the way we like. Your work is very appreciated.

My question: Will this release fix the issues we have been having with nade level, buylevel, and knife fight mods? (knife p3n)? See here:

Thanks for the effort of everyone involved!

There are some issues with two addons, which didn't exist in the previous version (2.1.0.323).
Detocs isn't loading properly (unknown command errors i think)
RConLock as well (it shows in the console a huge number of {unknown command "wait"})

Edit: Okay, my CSS console still runs the old one, and it says that a new version is available. So that works perfect. Just gonna update in a few minutes.
But another thing that is a bit annoying: I got an email about this, but for w/e reason, it ended up in my junk folder! Any way to make emails from your Google-ES-Group not be betrayed as junk?

Edit2: I noted that a folder in the eventscripts folder, which is called "esc" - What exactly is that?


Edit3: When I choose an option from my keymenu, my server crashes with a runtime error!

Add [email protected] to your address book or contact list. That would probably do it. Or marking it nonspam once or twice.

That's the new highly experimental EventScripts Shell engine that I mentioned at the top of the post. I wouldn't worry about it for now, mainly there as a springboard to the next EventScripts major release.

If you can get me the exact error for Detocs, that would be helpful.

The wait issue is a known problem. Some security addons set sv_allow_wait_command 0 which will break EventScripts until Valve issues a fix I've asked them for. See: Known Issues / wait.

I can't say 100% as I didn't try those. But I did work very closely with the GunGame team and they didn't mention still seeing these issues. Whether or not this build resolves all GG issues, I highly recommend you move to it as there are a lot of bugs fixed in this release to help GunGame servers.

When trying to add files for download using downloadable, I am still getting "Cbuf_AddText: buffer overflow" errors in console when I have a lot of downloadable files, the same as what I posed here. viewtopic.php?f=90&t=39033

Using the same download code and method worked previous to the orangebox update. I made a small sourcemod plugin to do the same thing as downloadable, and it adds all the files to the download table fine without any of the errors, but whenever I used eventscripts for downloading files, it gives that error.
